The Plot Of A Million Little Things
The plot revolves around a group of friends who are full of energy and love, the utopian definition of friends as some might call it.
Their friend group is happy and full of life; however, their little bubble of happiness is popped when one of the group’s most adored and well-liked members, Jon Dixon commits suicide in the opening moments of the show.
This shatters the friend group and Jon’s loved ones. Jon was the one to always be seen quoting “Everything happens for a reason” and with nothing to worry about and everyone around him seemingly loving him, was not someone one expects to kill himself; this leads to his loved ones- his wife, his son and daughter, his friends, his assistant to set on a quest to find a reason for his decision to end his life.
The show has a beautiful and unique approach to suicide, implying that death has one cause while suicide could have many. The show explores mental illnesses and the horrors of it in the struggle of solving the mystery of Jon’s suicide while also dealing with every character’s own problems and causes.
At some point the show even romanticizes suicide, causing some controversy.
The Season 5 Of A Million Little Things
The show has come a long way and has had 4 seasons by now, with the 5th season in making.
As the series is renowned for, season 4 ended with a cliffhanger with one of the main character’s life on the line. No, it is not an accident or assassination but it’s cancer. One of the main characters, Gary, has been revealed to have cancer in the last moments of the season. The character already tackled cancer before and now it is back.
Gary had been keeping the diagnosis a secret from his family and friends but no secret can be hidden forever. Rome discovers some video recordings of Gary in his camera which Gary borrowed to film his son’s Graduation ceremony. Some sources revealed that ABC has asked the A Million Little Things creative team not to write the season 4 finale as the finale of the whole series. This hints at the next season, 5, to conclude the series and be the last one.
