Absentia is an American crime and thriller drama TV Show that was first aired in 2017. The show was created by Gaia Violo and Matt Circulnick. Absentia Season 4 revolves around a special FBI agent named Emily Byrne. Emily disappeared without a trace while she was on a hunt for a serial killer and was assumed to be dead.
Six years later, she was found alive in a cabin in the woods with no memory of her past. The series showcased her life after returning barely alive. It depicts the drastic changes in her marital, social and private life. Absentia has a total of three seasons. Absentia Season 4 Release Date
The creators wanted to wrap Absentia in three seasons and they had no plans to continue it with Absentia season 4. However looking at the fame and success this show has gained, there is a possibility that the makers might consider filming the fourth season. - Stana Katic as Emily Byrne. Emily Byrne is a special FBI agent who disappeared on a mission and was assumed to be dead. She returned alive after six years and was struggling to rebuild her life and unfold the mysteries of her disappearance.
- Patric Heusinger as Nick Durand. Nick is Emily’s husband and fellow FBI agent. He remarried after Emily’s sudden disappearance. The character throughout the show is trying to balance himself between his new marriage and Emily’s return.
- Patrick McAuley as Flynn Durand. He is Emily’s son. He has no memory of Emily and thinks of Alice as his mother. Flynn seems to be uncomfortable around Emily but the two gradually form a bond.
- Cara Theobold as Alice Durand. Alice is Nick’s new wife. She is insecure about Emily’s return and that she might lose Flynn and Nick. Alice’s character is depicted as envious of Emily.
- Neil Jackson as Jack Byrne. He is Emily’s older brother. He worked as a surgeon but lost his job and medical license due to alcohol addiction.
- Angel Bonanni as Detective Tommy Gibbs. Tommy is a police detective who is in charge of the investigation regarding Emily’s death.
- Bruno Bichir as Dr. Daniel Vega. He is an FBI psychologist and works with Emily.
- Paul Freeman as Warren Byrne. He portrays Emily’s adopted father who is a retired cop.
- Ralph Ineson as Special Agent Adam Radford. Derek is the boss of Nick and Emily.
- Christopher Colquhoun as Special Agent Derek Crown. Derek is also an FBI agent and is a good colleague of Nick and Emily. He was later promoted to be in charge of the office after Radford’s demise but was replaced by someone else. At the end of the series, Derek regained that position.
- Matthew Le Nevez as Special Agent Cal Issac. Cal is an FBI agent and colleague of Nick and Emily. He helped Emily to seek out the solutions to her mystery.
- Natasha Little as Julliane Gunnarsen. She is an FBI agent who is new at the Boston Field Office and replaces Derek as the one in charge of the office. At the end of the series, she is arrested and accused of corruption.
Absentia Season 3 Overview
Absentia’s third season was full of suspense and unexpected twists. Emily’s quest to hunt down her past had led her and her family to danger. She was at a stage where she could believe and trust none and sensed danger everywhere. The smell of suspicion was all around her.
Everybody believed that Nick was dead except Emily. She did all she could to find Nick. She sought help in the FBI office but her concerns mattered to nobody. Meanwhile, Nick was being tortured somewhere around Europe.
Nick managed to find an opportunity to escape from captivity but was unaware that Cal and Emily were on their way to rescue him. In the final episode, Emily manages to find Nick, and the two rescue the refugees and found the FBI mole. Emily, Nick, and Flynn are finally reunited in Boston but Emily had to take some drastic measures that ensured her family’s safety.
Absentia Season 4 Trailer and Storyline
There is no official announcement regarding the making of season 4. The cast had stated that season 3 was the finale and they won’t come up with any further seasons. So, it is hard to predict the release of the Absentia season 4 trailer. But we hope it to release soon.
The show covered the life of a woman who struggled to prove herself innocent of a crime she never committed. It depicted the hardships in her life returning after six years. She was seen coping with changes in her professional and personal life while everyone believed her to be guilty. Absentia travels around Emily, unraveling the mysteries of her life while finding her past.
The thrill, crime, action, mystery, adventure, and drama binds up the viewers till the third season and makes them curious about the release of Absentia Season 4.

Absentia has a total of 30 episodes with an average running time of 45 min. The first two seasons of the show aired on AXN in the USA. The third season was exclusively premiered on Amazon Prime Video. All three seasons are available to watch and Amazon Prime Video. Unfortunately, Absentia is not available to stream in India.
Whenever the fourth season is released we can assume that it would premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
