Another is a Japanese thriller anime released in 2012. The anime series, Another Season 2 is coming under the genres such as thriller and horror and also mixed genres like seat edge thriller and crime thriller cum horror.
The series has a total number of 12 episodes in a single season which is directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, one of the famous animation directors from Japan who has directed several other anime thrillers. The series was produced by PA works, the team behind various other anime projects like Sakura Quest, Iroduku: the world in colors and The day became I God, and many more. Before the series comes to the OTT giant Netflix, Another aired through some of the prominent Japanese broadcasting networks were Kitanihon Broadcasting, TVQ Kyushu broadcasting, and Nippon BS Broadcasting.
Another Season 2 Storyline
The thrilling, crime, and adventure series ‘Another’ is evolving around some school students and a school in a mountain town located in Japan’s countryside named Yomiyama. There comes a new school student named Kouichi Sakakibara who just transfers to this new school where he witnesses some not digesting experiences.
Then he understands the situation more over an incident that leads it into this current stage. The incident is almost aged about 6 years. About 27 years ago, the school witnessed the death of a student of the same where Kouichi is currently enrolled into. Amidst all these bitter experiences of him, he made a friend her name is Misaki, she taught him various things about the school and the class.
But still, his curiosity of Kouichi to know more about the school and the incident that happened 27 years ago was not an ending thus he decided to go after that incident which ended him up with the shocking news that his only friend from school Mei Misaki is who died in that incident happened 27 years ago and who is now with him is Misaki’s ghost!. Another Season 2 plot
The series is starting with a flashback that happens in the year 1972, when a student from Yomiyoma North middle school’s class 3-3 named Mei Misaki died during the annual school year happened at the school premises. Her death wasn’t expected by her friends because she was very close with all of them and very loyal to the school as well.
They were devastated by hearing the news thus they all, whole the class decided to carry on as if their classmate is still alive also they kept a space for her on her desk and bench even though in the annual graduation ceremony as well. But things got changed when the space left by her friends for Mei Misaki was filled up by her ghost! This confusing question wasn’t answered and couldn’t able to answer by anyone there. Because Mei is dead then how her photo comes in the exact space?.
But circumstances got changed when 27 years later, a 15-year-old Kouichi Sakakibara comes to the mountain town of Yomiyama to stay with his grandparents while his father who is busy working away in India. He got transferred to the North Middle school of Yomiyama and joined the same class as Mei Misaki studied. But he couldn’t able to attend the first few classes because of a sudden hospital case, there he got a friend named Mei Misaki who seems mysterious and her physical appearance has confirming this mysterious doubt.
She is looking like she is a daily visitor to the hospital morgue. But soon he finds out that she is a ghost and that was because of an incident that happened in school where a girl died in front of the same class, class 3-3. This incident made other students believe that the class got cursed – they named it ‘the curse of class 3-3’. But this made the protagonist duo believe that something happened in there about 27 years ago, if they can find a solution to what happened to Misaki then can end the curse. Together Kouichi and Misaki are setting out to find the truth behind her death and the curse that happened to class 3-3.

The series includes various Japanese voice-over artists such as Natsumi Takamori as Mei Misaki, and Atsushi Abe as Kouichi Sakakibara as the main protagonist characters. The other supporting characters include Tomoaki Marno as Naoya Teshigawara, Madoka Yonezawa as Izumi Akazawa, Kazutomi Yamamoto as Yunya Mochizuki, and many more.
Another season 2 Release Date
The series can be considered and sometimes compared and even acknowledged with the same level as the other well-acclaimed and award-winning anime series from Japan – ‘Death Note’. And it is showing the quality of making this series. With just only one season the series has gained so much popularity and recognition over other contemporary anime series of that time.
There is no new news regarding a renewed season from either creators or production houses even though there is no news from Netflix as well. But the series has got several anime prequels such as ‘Another: the other’ and ‘Another: Misaki Meri’. But one can expect any news very soon as Netflix’s Tudum events are near and also several animes are getting further seasons. Still, there is less possibility of getting new seasons because of the time gap. The series was released in 2012, so this is the time for the series to celebrate its Iron anniversary. And yeah, this data is showing the impossibility of getting a new season.Â
