Assassin’s Pride Season 2 is an anime series. It is based on a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Kei Amagi and illustrated by Nino Ninomotois. The first season of the series was released in October and ended in December 2019. It featured 12 episodes, and it was produced by Studio EMT Squared. The series has a 5.7 rating on IMDb and a 5.93 rating on MyAnimelist.
The critics were thoroughly disappointed with the plot development of the show but that doesn’t mean it has no fans. Assassin’s Pride Season 2 Plot
Assassin’s Pride Season 2 tells the story of Melida Angel. She is born without mana in an aristocratic family. To learn supernatural abilities, she is sent to an academy. In the academy, Kufa Vampir becomes her Mana instructor but with the condition that he’d have to kill her if she fails to acquire any skills.
Melida was born to a noble father but her mother was a common woman which is why she couldn’t manifest her powers. Lord Mordrew, Melida’s noble grandfather orders assassin Kufa to teach her mana. Her grandfather is suspicious of her origin so he orders Kufa to kill her if she fails to use mana.
It is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Flandore is the only remaining place suitable for life. It is split into several blocks surrounded by glass domes and connected with glass tunnels that allow transportation. The world outside these domes is hostile and ruthless dominated by monsters. These monsters are called Lycanthropes, terrible beast that lives in darkness.
These monsters can only be fought by noblemen who possess superpowers, called mana. Mana grants noblemen abilities that are beyond human limits and are useful to defeat even monsters. In the city, there’s a clear distinction between commoners and nobility.
Kufa, the tutor who is responsible for Melida acquiring her skills is hiding the truth behind his arrival. But when he watches Melida fight, he reconsiders the previous orders he had been given. He chooses to give Melida a chance. This choice could lead to the death of both Kufa and Melida but it’s a risk he is willing to take. Kufa is a member of a guild called the White Knights.
As the story moves on, Kufa and Melida who are hiding a few secrets of their own learn that greater challenges are waiting for them.
Assassin’s Pride Season 2 Release Date
Despite the negative reviews, we can still hope another season will be released. Since one of the EMT Squared anime series that wasn’t received positively in the debut season, still got several seasons following it.
If the show finalizes the renewal with the second season and begins production soon, we might get another season in 2022. Hopefully, we will get the next installment by fall 2022. Since the product hasn’t even begun, it might also be delayed to 2023 or even 2024.
Assassin’s Pride Season 2 Previous Season Recap
The show begins with Melida, a young girl who doesn’t possess mana. To help her acquire these skills, she is tutored by Kufa Vampir. He is an assassin who is supposed to help Melida with her grandfather’s orders. Set in a world where mana is important to fight monsters, and only noblemen possess such skills, Melida is working hard to learn it. Since she was bullied at her school for being the only person who couldn’t use mana, she was desperate to learn. She had a dream. She wanted to become a professional magic user.
Despite the lack of magic, the fire in her, and the urge to never give up were commendable. In one scene, she is seen fighting the monsters with a wooden sword. Due to Kufa, Melida gets the opportunity to use her mana but now they are forced to keep it a secret or both of them will be dead.
The first season of Assassin’s Pride covered the first five volumes of the light novel series. The next volumes might be covered in the second season.
