Awake Season 2 is an American Science Fiction Thriller movie. It was released in 2021. The movie is directed by Mark Raso. The story is written by Gregory Poirier and is produced by Paul Schiff. The movie was released on 9 November 2021.

The story is about a woman who is doing anything and everything to protect her daughter Matilda from being an experiment puppet by the doctors. Global hysteria ensues after a mysterious catastrophe wipes out all electronics and takes away humanity’s ability to sleep. Scientists race against the clock to find a cure for unexplained insomnia before its fatal effects eliminate the human race It reached number one worldwide on the platform when it was released.

However, it was not liked by a majority of people. It received generally unfavourable reviews. The audience did not like the end as it ended very abruptly. The movie ranking is also not that great. It is ranked 4.9 out of 10 on IMDb.

Awake Season 2 Plot

Awake Season 2 Plot follows Jill Adams who is a Former US army medic and at present is working as a security guard at a local college. She steals drugs from the chemistry lab of the college and sells them out for money. Jill keeps her children Noah and Matilda at her mother’s house and takes them back with her while returning from work. While driving back to home, Jill is met with an accident where the car falls into the lake and Matilda is drowned. Later the police save Matilda. Police also explain to Jill about the Malfunctioning electrical machinery.

At the hospital, they learn that the coma patients have awoken. Later at night, when Noah, Jill, and Matilda were trying to sleep, they couldn’t do so. The psychiatrist Dr. Murphy explains that people appear to be no longer able to fall asleep. The only known exception is an old woman, who is being studied at a military base called The Hub, in the hopes of finding a cure for the condition. Jill remembers that Matilda can also fall asleep and she is scared about the fact that she will also be taken to the lab as an experiment.

The pastor gives a sermon about Matilda being a beacon of hope and people want to sacrifice her. Jill tries to hide Matilda but Doris manages to hide Matilda. Jill along with Noah escapes and manages to find a car. Noah suggests Jill take Matilda along with them. Jill goes to take Matilda and reaches a tunnel. While she enters the tunnel, one of the prisoners steals the car along with Matilda in it. Other prisoners threaten to kill them but The prisoner who stole the car manages to save Matilda, Jill, and Noah.

Jill teaches Matilda to drive because she’s the only one who has the energy to prepare her for the possibility of living alone when everyone else has died from sleep deprivation. Jill reaches the hub where Dodge offers her to stay and hides the car away. Jill splits with her daughters and hides in the Hub. Jill finds another woman who can sleep and asks her to take care of Matilda. The army confronts Jill and her children and Matilda tearfully admit she can sleep.

Matilda realizes the reason that she and Noah could sleep was that they had both temporarily died. They drown Jill in a lake. They resuscitate her and she awakens just as the camera zooms in on her eye and cuts to the credits.
