Blue Exorcist Season 3 Plot
Blue Exorcist revolves around Rin Okumura, who is an ordinary teenager. One day, his life is turned upside down when he is ambushed by demons. It leads him to learn the truth about himself being Satan’s son. The Blue Exorcist includes a realm with two dimensions. One is called Assiah, a world that is dominated by humans, and Gehenna, which is a world for the Vampires ruled by Satan.
Satan tries to attack Assiah. In the chaos, Rin’s dad, Shirou Fujimoto gets killed, leaving the kids on their own. Fuelled by revenge, Rin and Yukio are determined to become exorcists and kill Satan.
As the kids enroll in True Cross Academy they face countless difficulties. First, the criminals try to use Rin’s power to their own advantage. Then, Rin’s relation to Satan is revealed to the school which leads to the commotion in the institute.
The first two seasons were solely based on the manga which means that the third season will follow the manga as well. If it does, then we can expect that it will follow Rin and his friends dealing with a group called the Illuminati, led by Lucifer, the King of Light. The group is determined to resurrect Satan and unleash demons and zombies upon the world.
It will also reveal the Gehenna Gate, a portal between the two worlds. It was constructed by the Illuminati but they failed to get the engine to work properly. Assiah and Gehenna lived in a single world, as told by the demons. Illuminati intends to unite the two separate worlds into one. But to achieve this, they will have to experiment while Rin and his twin try to stop this from happening.
Blue Exorcist Season 3 Release Date
The first two seasons have had over 37 episodes in total. The first season aired from April to October 2011 and the second season aired from January to March 2017. The debut season had 25 episodes while the second installment had 12 episodes.
The author publishes 11 chapters of the manga in a year. It might be assumed that the ending would come in 2023 solidifying the renewal of the third season. The third season will begin with Volume 9 and end with Volume 13.
However, there’s an issue with the profits of the previous season. The first season did great and it was profitable while the second season failed to do so. Hence, there will likely never be a new season of Blue Exorcist. Even the official accounts of the series aren’t promoting it anymore. It makes us question if we will ever get to see Rin and Satan in a new season or not.
Even if the third season releases, it is expected to release somewhere around the end of 2022 and early 2023.
Blue Exorcist Season 3 Prequel Recap
Blue Exorcist has an intriguing story. The previous seasons revolved around Rin and his twin as they fought against Satan and other wicked enemies. The season finale was really dramatic as we watched the Exorcists try to retrieve the Left eye of the Impure King from Saburota Todo, in an attempt to end the destruction of Kyoto and everybody inhabiting the place.
Rin finds the confidence to kill the Impure King, getting rid of all the poisons and infections with his Blue Flames, making sure all the innocent lives are unharmed. Rin is supposed to face the Vatican. Yukio is hiding his newly discovered demonic power.
Rin has to go to war with demonic forces that are set on resurrecting Satan. We might get to see Rin and his complicated relationship with Shiemi Moriyama in the third season too. The Seven Mysteries of True Cross Academy shows the Academy’s principal, Mephisto Pheles entrusting the Expires to find and exorcise the demons behind each mysterious incident.
The new season might also depict the Exorcist Exams in which Rin and all his friends will prove their skills to become official Exorcists.
