It’s been three years since we dived into the world of fae in carnival Row, but due to the pandemic,Carnival Row Season 2 has been delayed. But here’s the great news! Carnival Row has officially wrapped the filming of the brand-new season. Before Carnival Row Season 2 is released, let’s catch up on what happened in the first season!

Carnival Row created by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham is an American neo-noir fantasy series. The show released its first season on 20th August 2019 which has eight episodes. The series is a combination of political thriller, murder mystery, and dark fantasy which has definitely garnered a lot of attention from its audience. With the renewal of Carnival Row for a second season, we expect a lot of amazing scenes in terms of action and high-concept fantasy.

The show revolves around mythological beings who must survive as oppressed refugees in the human world while a detective works to solve murders. The story is set in a fictional city, The Burgue where humans co-exist with magical faeries or fae who are forced to live in the neighbourhood of Carnival Row. The story is set in a city called Burgue, capital of a country – the Republic of the Burgue. As the story moves forward, we learn the Burgue and the Pact were fighting over Tirnanoc until the Burgue bails. The Pact is another human nation. Tirnanoc, was a peaceful faerie land until humans invaded the place. Republic of the Burgue was fighting with the faeries until it bailed, leading to fae losing the war.

In the starting of the series, we discover there have been a few gruesome murders. Philo, a half-fae posing as a human is ordered to investigate a conspiracy that’s brewing in the city. Vignette is another fae who herself has had a troubled life, and she might have something to do with the mystery behind the murders. She was once romantically involved with Philo but she believed he had died in a war. Soon, she learns the truth that Philo is very much alive. Vignette gets involved with a group of fae criminals called the Black Raven. She is also dealing with the old feelings brought back to life after seeing Philo alive.

Vignette and Philo are trying to navigate their life as they learn new things along the way. Philo is chasing the murdered while Vignette does he best to work as a maid to Imogen.

Amazon renewed Carnival Row for Carnival Row Season 2 in July 2019. It’s expected that Amazon shall release the first five completed episodes of Carnival Row Season 2 and add the final four episodes when the production will be finished. The Carnival Row Season 2, like the first season will consist of eight episodes as well. There’s also a rumour going around that Carnival Row Season 2 might be dropping in August 2022.

Filming of Carnival Row Season 2 was officially wrapped up in September 2021 yet nothing is certain. On Carnival Row’s official Twitter page, fans got to witness some behind the scenes moments of cast members to celebrate the last day of production. Perhaps, we will get a trailer next!

From the first season, we learn that the government is working on a new segregation plan to separate magical creatures from regular humans. We also see Philo running off with Vignette so they might get a chance to live together. Along with it, we get to see Agreus and Imogen sailing off together but they were ordered to return. However, the couple refused to do so. These events will surely be expanded in the next season as we watch the conflicts between human and mythological creatures continue.

The first season is available on Amazon Prime Video. While there’s no announcement about the release date of the Carnival Row Season 2, it’s confirmed that it will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
