In the role of Detective Sergeant June Lenker, a young up-and-coming actor alongside Capaldi, Cush Jumbo of “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight” fame stars. Along with Paul Rutman, who created “Criminal Record,” and Elaine Collins, who collaborated with Jumbo on the ITV crime thriller “Vera,” both of the stars are executive producers.
A really geeky bond exists between Capaldi and Jumbo. Naturally, Capaldi played the Twelfth Doctor in “Doctor Who” (as well as Lobus Caecilius in season 4 of the reimagined series) and John Frobisher in “Torchwood,” a “Doctor Who” spinoff, in 2009. Scottish actor Peter Capaldi, who is well-known for portraying the Twelfth Doctor in Doctor Who from 2013 to 2017, leads the new thriller. This strongly suggests that the three will make an appearance in the show in prominent enough positions to be mentioned.
Due to their shared acting experience, Wanamaker in particular is an intriguing name. They appeared as a pair in the critically acclaimed (according to The Guardian) West End production “Constellations” in 2021. Given this, it would seem to reason that her “Criminal Record” character may have a strong relationship to Capaldi’s DCI Hegarty.
The Release Date Of The Criminal Record
There is no set timetable for the release of Criminal Record, which is currently in production in London. Capaldi has admitted he’s not very excited about coming back to Doctor Who for a forthcoming 60th anniversary special, so perhaps it will happen sooner rather than later.
