Firebite is a Warwick Thornton-created Australian streaming television drama series that aired on AMC+ on December 16, 2021.
The show concluded its long run of eight episodes on Feb 3, 2022, with each episode lasting around 42 minutes.
With this very Australian and fantastic take on the vampire genre, Warwick Thornton has surpassed himself. From outstanding casting to stunning cinematography, this program is a triumph from beginning to end; it’s the kind of big-budget Australian production that has been sorely lacking in the Australian film industry.
The slow start out slowly, but it quickly picks up, and the first season’s conclusion left you wanting more.
It’s exciting to see American money funding a brilliant Australian television show, and this one is well worth the money; I hope to see a lot more, to be honest.
What happened in Firebite Season 1?
Finding a vampire-centric story that feels distinct can be difficult. The notion of Firebite is what initially drew me in. It’s not every day that you get to watch a show or read a book about Indigenous Australian hunters attempting to exterminate a vampire colony. So, naturally, I was interested in seeing what Firebite had to offer.
Tyson (Rob Collins) and Shanika, his adopted teen daughter, are our two main characters (Shantae Barnes-Cowan). They’ve been charged with tracking down vampires that like to consume Indigenous Australians’ blood.
The show, which was co-created by Warwick Thornton and Brendan Fletcher, features legends surrounding the country’s colonial past, revisiting the tragic history of British colonization with a touch of the paranormal, and how all of this ties into what Tyson and Shanika are dealing with now.
The first season of Firebite focused on Tyson and Shanika’s bond as a family and a vampire-hunting partnership, in addition to racial undertones. I enjoyed how the writers depicted their tense relationship as a result of Tyson’s desire to keep Shanika safe and Shanika’s desire to do more as a Bloody Hunter (people who hunt vampires).
How did Firebite Season 1 End?
Shanika and Tyson’s friendship was put to the test in the season 1 finale, ‘The Rise Of The Fallen.’ After being bitten in the last episode, I was really looking forward to how Shanika’s resolve as a Blood Hunter would be handled in the finale.
Tyson had told her that if he ever got a “Firebite,” she was to kill him (the type of bite that turns humans into vampires).
It was, however, easier said than done. Shanika isn’t one to give up easily when it comes to her loved ones. When it came to rescuing her kidnapped mother, her resolve was unwavering, and she had no intention of letting go of Tyson so lightly.
I also appreciated how Shanika had to deal with the very last Vampire King (Callan Mulvey) on her alone in the conclusion. Shanika has a darkness inside her, according to the Vampire King. He’s even willing to show her how to use it. Her blood, it seems, has some healing properties as well.

Firebite Season 2 – Is the show getting Renewed?
Season 2 of Firebite is yet to be confirmed by AMC+, the show’s distribution channel. The makers, on the other hand, are focused on creating something wonderful and impressing the audience.
As a result, performers Yael Stone as Eleona and Dan McDermott, president of real programming for AMC Networks and managing director of AMC Studios, have made a few positive pronouncements.
As Yael puts it, “exposing Indigenous Australians and past harsh colonialism through a fascinating universe full of vampires brings something real to the table.”
Dan’s excitement “to tell this narrative authentically, in Australia, with Indigenous storytellers, cast and crew, and on Indigenous grounds” is one of his most powerful remarks.
In addition, Rachel Gardner, See-Saw Films’ head of drama Australia and series executive producer, offered her thoughts on the idea. “It’s tremendously thrilling to be bringing Warwick and Brendan’s distinctive vision to the screen with a high-octane, explosive drama that relies on the complicated themes of colonization and racial prejudice, as told by Indigenous storytellers,” she says.
As a result, ‘Firebite’s return is likely, albeit no official announcement has been made yet.
If the platform approves more episodes, the show will go into production for the first few months. After then, a release date may be confirmed gradually.
We anticipate the second season of ‘Firebite’ to premiere in 2023.
Where can you watch Firebite season 2?
Viewers can enjoy the first season of the show on AMC+ network which is also the show’s production house, in other parts of the world viewers can watch the show on Amazon Prime Video. Likewise, season 2 of Firebite is most likely to air on Amazon Prime Video too.
What Can you expect from season 2?
Firebite Season 1 left certain questions unanswered, so now everyone wants to know when Firebite Season 2 will be released and how it will continue the tale.
I’d like to watch Shanika battle with not sinking into darkness if Firebite returns for a second season. If Shanika believes that the only way to save Tyson is to listen to the Vampire King, it will be fascinating to see what she does.
To be honest, I don’t want Eleona to regress into a by-the-numbers nasty vampire obsessed with murder and chaos. I’m hoping the second season gives Eleona more to do to distinguish her reign from the Vampire King’s plans for the failing vampire colony.
It will be interesting to see which directions do the writer go in.
Firebite Season 2 Cast
If ‘Firebite’ gets a second season, Rob Collins as Tyson Walker and Shantae Barnes-Cowan as Shanika “Neeks” could join the cast.
These actors portray two Indigenous hunters who are on a mission to destroy the last remaining vampires in their desert hamlet in South Australia.
Eleona, a bartender who is frequently the topic of Tyler’s lustful verbal outbursts, could be brought back by Yael Stone.
Vampire King, the leader of a pack of vampires, is scheduled to make a comeback as Callan Mulvey. Jai Koutrae (Spud), Thibul Nettle (Froggy), Ngaire Pigram (Kitty Sinclair), and Tessa Rose are among the other performers that could participate in the next second season (Aunty Marie).
If you have the opportunity, I recommend that you watch and support a show like Firebite. Each episode lasts about 40 minutes and moves at a fast pace. There is some gore, but it isn’t overly graphic in my perspective. The humor is beautifully balanced with the action and poignant moments.
