The story revolves around a high school sophomore student, Naoya Mukai and his unrequited love. He is in love with his childhood friend and next door lover who also happens to be in the same school and same class as he is, Saki Saki. However, when Naoya is about to be in a relationship with Saki, Nagisa Minase makes a confession about her live to Naoya.
Though at first , he rejects Nagisa but soon is concerned about hurting her. In this situation, to avoid breaking his girlfriend Saki’s trust and to avoid hurting Nagisa, Naoya takes a middle road; he starts dating both of them to make them happy. Saki was a bit hesitant first, with Naoya and Nagisa’s insistence she agrees to the plan. Thus, a three person relationship begins between Naoya and his two girlfriends which is an unconventional one.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend is an unconventional love story between Naoya Mukai, Saki Saki and Nagisa Minase. Naoya has always been in love with Saki and after years of wooing her she finally gives in and they start dating. They are an ideal couple and Naoya is an ideal lover; Saki is constantly being taken care and attended by him. However their relationship soon faces struggle as in a blot from the blue, Naoya gets a love proposal from a first year student, Nagisa Minase.
Naoya finds himself in a false position as he feels sorry while turning down Nagisa’s sweet and innocent love. He is particularly moved by the fact that Nagisa doesnot expect him to breakup with his girlfriend Saki, instead she only offers her selfless love to him.
Therefore, to overcome this problem and to ensure a healthy and peaceful relationship, Naoya finds a solution. He reaches over to Saki to get her permission to date them both at the same time. They decides to start living together as Naoya’s parents live elsewhere. The series explores their daily lives, school days and other challenges that come up as they struggle to carry on their love triangle relationship.
Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 Cast
Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 has not decided on any cast yet. The first season had their castings as Junya Enoki who voiced Naoya Mukai, Ayane Sakura who plays Saki Saki and Asumi Waki who played Nagisa’s voice. It is supposed that the second season will have the same castings.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 is actually a spin off of the 2021 manga rom com series Girlfriend, Girlfriend. It is expected that this season of the show will follow the storyline of the previous series. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, it is assumed that it will have the same lead characters Naoya, Saki and Nagisa. Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 is the second season of the original series which was run from July to September,2021 covering 12 episodes. The manga was originally released in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine by Hiroyuki in March,2020. The compiled 11th volume was released on June,17 which was followed by the twelfth on September 16 in Japan.
The manga was directed by Satoaswhi Kuwahara under Tezuka Production Studios. Keiichirou Oochi was in charge of the screenplays of the anime which aired in the summer of 2021. The audience had a mixed reaction to the first season of Kanojo mo Kanojo which got a rating of 6.56/10 on MyAnimeList.
