The Good Doctor Season 6 Storyline

Based on the 2013 South Korean show of the same name, the Good Doctor TV series is a medical drama created by Daniel Dae Kim, who liked the South Korean version of it, which was created by Park Jae Bum. Kim initially sold the rights to CBS, but later on, Sony Pictures Television and ABC Creations were the ones to join. The series was developed by David Shore, who has another famous medical series, House.

Till now, we have seen growth of Shaun as a person in all areas of life, like personal. From being unable to connect with others to proving himself as a doctor, and gaining true friends. He even learned to get over insecurities over not finding love when he was first rejected by Lea in the last season by marrying her.

Although season 6 saw their wedding reception not happening due to an emergency at St. Bonaventure Hospital, much of the plot is driven by office politics, as people compete for positions and favors. New patients and complicated cases bring with them many subplots that let our resident doctors learn harsh lessons, make risky calls, and bear consequences or rewards for them.

New seasons see new heads and how that changes office dynamics and everyone struggles to adapt to it. Most new hospital directors usually have problems with Shaun and his autism. “Very few things that are worthwhile in life come without a cost.” – Dr. Andrews says, this perfectly sums up the medical drama. You will see the doctors learn the value of life and the job they do with each of their patients.

Along with medical jargon, it does impart some good lessons through Shaun’s autism and his feeling about how he’s different from others. One thing that’s very endearing about his character is that he perseveres. As he said, “You’re right, I’m weird. Part of my weirdness is that I perseverate. That means I keep thinking about things. So, I will keep knocking on your door until I know Martine is okay.”

Good Doctor Season 6 Cast

Famous child actor of ‘Finding Neverland’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Freddie Highmore plays the autistic aloof but talented Shaun Murphy.
Alex Santiago of ‘Resurrection Blvd.’, Nicholas Gonzalez plays Nick Melendez, who died in Season 3 but returns in the vision of one Claire Brown, who is played by Antonia Thomas who is known for her works, ‘Lovesick’ and ‘Misfits’.
Hill Harper plays Dr. Andrews, who once sacrificed his position for Shaun.
Shaun’s mentor Dr. Glassman is played by Richard Schiff. Christina Chang plays Dr. Audrey Lim.
Paige Spara plays Lea Dilallo-Murphy, who’s Shaun’s love interest and wife (Season 5).

Good Doctor Season 6 Plot

It’s a medical drama about and around the life of a young autistic savant, Shaun Murphy in St. Bonaventure Hospital. Shaun has a photographic memory and notices mundane things in life.

“Whenever people want you to do something they think is Wrong, they say it’s ‘Reality.’” The series depicts the conflicts and nuances of a hospital and the residents there, the competition inside, the rivalry, and the bonds formed as they work to save lives and help treat people.

Murphy’s autistic self struggles to gain recognition as well as fit in there initially but with time, people warm up to him and he gains great friends. He relocated to California to work at San Jose St, Bonaventure Hospital, from Wyoming after the death of his brother which seriously traumatized him. Shaun has a troubled past and he often remembers his brother’s advice when he fails to understand people around him.

Due to his autism, he struggles to understand people around him, their expressions, and their feelings, and isn’t able to connect with his peers and seniors alike. Having both autism and savant syndrome, he is often looked at with prejudices, with many doubting his hiring, including the board. So he had to work extra hard to prove that his skills can save lives.

The show follows the problems faced by surgical residents in the hospital like dishonest patients, legal work, and complicated surgeries. Along with Shaun, Clair Brown, Neil Melendez, Jared, Dr. Glassman, his neighbor (now wife) Lea, and Dr. Andrews are some other important characters of Season 1. Some were written off during 5 seasons but some of them are still part of it.

Season 2 began after Season 1 ended with Murphy’s big mistake. The Executive Producer and creator Daniel Dae Kim plays Dr. Han who is the interim Chief of Surgery and has troubles with Shaun. He doubts Shaun’s skills and his being a surgical resident.
