High School Release Date, Plot, Cast, Storyline, And More

We’re pretty sure everyone has seen many high school shows that go by the name “High School,” but this one is different, we assure you. High school shows based on YA, coming-of-age, adulting theme of teenagers are a popular trope, and to use that to bring a new, fresh, and almost real-life story of twins, who try to identify themselves as a unique individual and deal with coming to terms with reality.

A young adult comedy series set in high school is about the Quinn sisters, who are twins. (Hey, that rhymed!) The Quinn sisters go through life, where real teenage issues are depicted in a comic theme, and shows what growing up and being yourself in the world really is.

Based on the memoirs written by twin sisters, Tegan and Sara Quinn, who are musicians and songwriters and can also play multiple instruments, Tegan and Sara are identical twins and have Canadian roots. They mostly play indie pop songs, and the “High School” 2019 memoir book by them was released three days before the release of their ninth album.

The show High School is a coming-of-age comedy-drama from the 1990s. The twins learn to navigate relationships, high school, friends, drugs, and most of all music as they struggle to get their own identity and adapt to the novelty.

They share a strained relationship with each other due to the wide differences in their personalities. Their mom Simone and their dad Patrick make up some other important family characters, as do the twins’ friends Phoebe, Maya, Evans, Natalie, and Ally. In the 1990s, when homosexuality was not easily accepted, girls struggled with embracing their feelings for girls.

The struggles, the reality, and the relatability, along with the amazing music, make this show so popular.

Based on the autobiographical book, it shows the struggle of the twins moving to a new city, where they adjust to the new place, start at a new school, and manage their own relationships while being identical twin sisters.

The show keeps shifting the narrative, alternately showing how any two characters’ day went and how they each have their own problems in life. The pilot episode saw Tegan and Sara have a very real sibling bond that began with, you guessed it right, a fight. Literally. Tegan punched Sara on the nose in a fight about music. We later see how Tegan is lonely and that Sara also struggles with her identity and beliefs.

Tegan finds new friends in Maya and Evan, while Sara already has Phoebe, her secret girlfriend, and is slowly befriending Natalie. In the second episode, we saw the sister going to a party after asking for her parent’s permission and an intimate moment between Sara and Phoebe that Sara’s mom saw. After some terms, the sisters are allowed to go, but Sara gets high there, and Tegan snaps at her for it.

The second narrative shows Simone, their mom, talking about how her life is very hectic with work and how saddened she is by the twins’ constant fighting and differences with her husband. It’s very sad and very real.

The third episode is about girls wanting to go to a concert with Simone. Tegan and Maya keep having moments, but Tegan thinks Maya likes Evans when Maya actually likes Tegan. Maya makes Tegan realize that she shouldn’t babysit her sister, so Tegan, Maya, and Simone have a great time at the concert. Sara, however, had a horrible time, and due to miscommunications and getting caught by Phoebe’s mother, they can’t sleep over together. Phoebe asks Sara to just be friends.

Episode 4 lets us meet David, who is very stressed with work, and the twins call him dad, which means he must be the real dad of the twins and Simone’s ex-husband.

Sara and Natalie convince Tegan to go to a rave, where Phoebe, Ally, and Maya also come after lying to their moms about sleeping over at Natalie’s. This episode brought out the strained relationships the three share when, in the end, Sara gets rude to her mom, and Simone, in turn, kicks them out of the car to walk all the way to Patrick’s place.
