Irodoku: The World In Colors Season 2( Japanese: Irozuku Sekai no Ashita Kara) is a popular Japanese Television series that falls under the category of anime. This series has been adapted from the popular manga series under the same name written and illustrated by Natsuka Yashi.

The television series is directed by Toshiya Shinohara and it premiered on October 6, 2018.  The first season came out with 13 episodes.  The series has been serialized as TV series by P. A  Works studio. The series has received an average rating of 7.3 on 10 from IMDB.

The genre that the series deals with is the theme of time travel where Hitomi, a teenage girl was transported to the past by her grandmother. We will soon find out the reason why Hitomi had to go through time travel.

Hitomi Tsukishiro, a 17-year-old descendant of a line of wizards in a future world where magic is still a part of daily life, lost her ability to sense colors when she was young and has since developed into a girl devoid of feeling. Hitomi’s grandmother Kohaku decides to take her back in time to the year 2018, where she finds a world where vibrant colors are in bloom out of concern for her future.

There is no news about a possible release of season 2 of Irodoku: The World in Colors. But it is expected that the characters would remain somewhat the same as in season 1 of the series. Here is the list of the characters who played an important role in season 1 of the series.

  • Kaori Ishihara as Hitomi Tsukishiro: Hitomi is a 17-year-old girl who becomes color-blind at a very young age. She is the central character of the series. She imagines the world around her in colors and shares her sorrow for she cannot be a part of the world in colors. In a monologue, Hitomi consoles herself by telling her she does not mind being alone. Viewers would therefore realize how Hitomi has secluded herself from the world around her. She goes back to the past and finds real happiness in the alternate past world.
  • Kaede Hondo as Kohaku Tsukihiro: Kohaku is Hitomi’s grandmother. She uses a magical sandwatch to transport Hitomi from present to past. Kohaku used to do experiments with magic when she was young and tried to discover the true essence of time magic. Kohaku uses magic to bring happiness to the lives of people.  She helped Hitomi by using the time magic and Hitomi could discover her true self and desires by traveling back in time.
  • Shoya Chiba as Yuito Aoi: Yuito is a member of the art and photography group who enjoys drawing. Hitomi can discern the colors in his sketches for some reason. He considers himself to be similar to Hitomi because he is an introvert. He finally falls in love with her and assists her in returning to her original time.
  • Seiji Maeda as Sho Yamabuki: Sho is the club president who specializes in taking grayscale photos. He was the first to go over and check on Hitomi after observing she seemed confused and out of place since he was dubious about the rumored relationship between Hitomi and Yuito.

Irodoku initially portrays the monotonous life of a 17-year-old color blind girl, Hitomi, who faces difficulty in finding herself in an equal position with respect to others. She admits that she is alone and she thinks seclusion is the only way in which she can face society.  However, with the help of her grandmother, she was able to discover the true meaning of her existence.

Hitomi was supported by her grandmother, Kohaku who happens to be a witch. She uses a sandwatch to help Hitomi to go back in time and discover the true colors of her life. Hitomi watches her grandmother when she was a child and grows a cordial relationship with Aoi. Aoi is an introvert by nature. He can draw wonderful pictures and Hitomi could see the colors used by Aoi in his drawing.

Hitomi eventually returns to the present and her world again reverts to the monochromatic frame, with which she was quite accustomed. However, she finds a book named “The Seven Colored Penguin”.  She instantaneously recalls that she read the book in colour as a child.

Irodoku falls under the genre of time travel series. It has been created on a futuristic plot, where we find the advent of greater technologies.  Time travel is always associated with a future developmental project which facilitates an individual to go back and forth in time. The series also associates witchcraft with the development of magical inventions such as the time potion that has been used in time travel.
