Dracula Untold Plot

In 15th-century Transylvania, the central region of modern-day Romania, Vlad III played by Luke Evans, prince of Wallachia, is known as a just ruler. Along with his beloved wife, Mirena played by Sarah Gadon, Vlad has arranged or brokered a prolonged period of peace and ensured that his people are protected, especially from the Ottoman Empire. Things go well since then until Sultan Mehmed II played by Dominic Cooper demands 1,000 of the country’s boys, which includes Vlad’s own son, for his army.

Vlad, heartbroken and confused over the series of ill fate events forced upon him, makes a deal with a monster that will enable him to defeat the Turks but cost him his humanity. A reboot of the Dracula film series, the plot creates an origin story for the titular character, rather than using the storyline of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel.

The last scene of the much-awaited and discussed film of the town is set in the modern world with Vlad still looking the same, which means he converted himself into a Dracula as it is not possible for humans to look the same for this long. He lived on for centuries. The blonde woman Vlad talks to seems to be the reincarnated form of his dead wife and they reunite in this time and world as they had once thought of earlier in the movie.

Is Dracula Untold Based On A True Story? Vlad The Impaler, The Real Dracula

Vlad the Impaler, also known as Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, was a 15th-century warlord in present-times Romania, in south-eastern Europe. Vlad the Impaler is believed to have been born in 1431 in what is now Transylvania, the central region of modern-day Romania was a medieval period prince whose acts of violence and shirts for blood inspired the world’s most famous Vampire, Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

You would be surprised to know that our very own fictional character, created by author Bram Stoker, was based on a real historical figure called Vlad the Impaler. So hence Dracula Untold indeed was based on a true story.

The legends of vampires go back centuries, but few names have cast more terror into the human heart than Dracula. Stoker used elements of Vlad’s real story for the title character of his 1897 novel “Dracula.” Since then the book has inspired many television shows, stories, and bloodthirsty novels.

However, what has been gathered from the opinions and research of various historians and literary scholars, such as Elizabeth Mille who has studied the link between Stoker’s character and Vlad III, the two Draculas don’t have much in common. Hence we conclude the movie Dracula Untold is not entirely based on the above-mentioned historic legend. It possesses a bit of its own story. The movie is available to watch on Netflix.
