Asteroid-borne “Mimics” invade Germany in 2015 and quickly seize control of the majority of Europe. By the year 2020, the United Defense Force (UDF), a global military coalition formed to counter the extraterrestrial threat, eventually defeats the Mimics at Verdun with the help of recently created mech-suits. General Brigham instructs freshly attached public affairs officer, Major William Cage, to cover the UDF’s impending major invasion of France, which is being planned in Britain.

Lacking fighting expertise, Cage protests and makes a threat to hold Brigham accountable if the invasion fails. Brigham has Cage detained and taken to Heathrow Airport, which is now a military installation. When Cage wakes up, he discovers Brigham has demoted him to the rank of private and placed him with Master Sergeant Farell and the oddball J-Squad, who are not fond of Cage.

Farell and J-Squad die shortly after the disastrous French landing. Cage uses a Claymore mine to kill an abnormally huge blue Mimic, but the explosion kills him instantly, and the alien’s blood covers him. Cage abruptly awakens to find himself repeating the previous morning at Heathrow. He continuously repeats the loop of passing away on the beach and waking up at Heathrow after trying to alert Farell about the invasion but getting no response. Cage seeks to save Sergeant Rita Vrataski, a renowned Verdun battle hero, in one loop. Knowing Cage has the ability to loop time, she instructs him to look for her the next time he awakens.

Before the invasion starts, Vrataski releases Cage, and they enlist J-Squad to help them destroy the Omega. The soldiers give their lives in Paris so that Cage and Vrataski can visit the Louvre. Vrataski kisses Cage to thank him for getting her this far, before enticing away an Alpha blocking them from the submerged Omega. The Omega is destroyed by the Alpha, who also manages to kill Vrataski and mortally wound Cage.

Is Edge Of Tomorrow Based On A True Story?

Is Edge Of Tomorrow Based On A True Story show that it is not a true story? Edge Of Tomorrow is not a real story as till now no alien invasion has taken place on Earth. It is just a fictional movie and it is not inspired by any real event because nothing of that sort happened in reality ever.

It might sound strange to say that “Edge of Tomorrow” is more of an experience movie than a time travel movie, but it will probably make sense to you after you’ve seen it. This true science fiction movie, which is based on the Hiroshi Sikurazaka novel “All You Need is Kill,” is very intellectual and is set in the days following an extraterrestrial invasion. Perhaps a better phrase would be “invasion by extra-dimensional beings.”
