Is Fuuka Based On True Story?

While Fuuka is not inspired by real life, it is based on the popular manga by Koji Seo as mentioned above. The manga, written by Koji Seo focuses on the problems faced by the band with the music at the forefront while the anime focuses on the love triangle between Fuuka, Yuu, and Koyuki Hinashi, Yuu’s childhood friend and uses music as a background. Yuu used to have a crush on Koyuki when they were children and regrets never confessing his feelings because she leaves without ever telling him and later becomes a very popular singer.

The manga also has the themes of this love triangle but it is treated as a part of the story and is given less importance. From 20 volumes, and 195 chapters of the manga, this has now become a 12-episode show. In both the animated and the comic book series, Yuu gets dragged into the world of music without any prior experience. The story portrays his humble beginnings and the growth of his passion for music.
