6-year-old Claire Absher first encounters 36-year-old time traveler Henry Detamble in the clearing behind her home. After fourteen years, Henry and Claire finally get to meet after an unexpected rendezvous at the library. After a bumpy “first” meeting, Henry and Claire try to reset themselves on a second date, but she still struggles to fix Henry with a man she knows and loves. Henry takes Claire back to a defining moment in her childhood.
Claire laments the linear life dictated by waiting for the unexpected appearance of Henry after meeting her soulmate at the age of six. Meanwhile, troubled girl Claire turns to Henry for support after an incident at a high school party. Claire invites Henry to his party for dinner, but the secret is revealed when he is crashed by another Henry. However, Claire is sad as she is struggling to make her 18th birthday perfect. Henry gets to know Claire’s family better when he visits Claire’s childhood home for the first time. Henry and Gomez’s friendship doesn’t go as planned.
An increasingly stressed Henry finds unexpected solace in his estranged father as his marriage to Claire approaches. The Time Traveler’s Wife finale ends with a cutscene. In it, Henry, 28, tells his girlfriend, Claire, 29, that it’s a strange idea to come to visit her more often. If the show-makers decide to shoot the second season of The Time Traveler’s wife, we get to know the baby as eventually, they do give birth to a child named Alba who is identified as having Henry’s genetic condition.

On July 31, 2018, HBO ordered the production for a straight-to-series run. Steven Moffat will pen the series, which will be based on Audrey Niffenegger’s book ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’; Sue Vertue and Brian Minchin will also serve as executive producers. The series’ production firms; Hartswood Films and Warner Bros. Television, are both participating.
