Created by Gege Akutami, ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ is a Japanese manga series. The manga was also turned into an anime, the first season of which debuted in 2020, as well as an anime film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which hit theatres this year. The Weekly Shonen Jump magazine publishes the manga series.
Later, the anime for the manga series was created by MAPPA Animations. The protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen is Yitadori Yuji, a high school student with a passion for sports and a great physique. Instead of going to classes, he prefers to spend his time with friends and the sports club. His grandfather’s parting words to him on his deathbed, ‘Save the people you can and die surrounded by people’ motivated him the most.
Because he consumed the finger of the Sukuna, also known as the King of Curses, the 15-year-old boy Itadori Yuji was cursed. Many Evil Curses attempt to gather the Fingers and bring the Sukuna back to life in order to control the world and impose their Evil will. To stop that from happening a new branch to eliminate the curses is formed which is called Jujutsu Kaisen tech.
The people who do the elimination of curses are known as Jujutsu Sorcerers. Jujutsu Sorcerer is called Strong based on the Cursed energy they can produce to eliminate the curses. The anime aired on October 2020 and completed its 1st Season with 24 Episodes on March 2021. The Manga series of the Anime is ongoing and recently released its 198th chapter. This article analyses and summarises the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 198 in light of the chapter’s official release in English.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 198 Storyline
The startling conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 197 included Naoya emerging from the abyss of destruction and employing Domain Expansion. The fight between Maki and Naoya will be resolved in chapter 198, possibly bringing the ongoing Sakurajima Colony storyline to a close, according to leaked spoilers.
Naoya Uses The Domain Expansion
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 198, titled Sakurajima Colony Part 8, depicts a semi-humanoid Naoya employing Domain Expansion. His upper torso stays in its original human form but the lower half of his body returns to its former cocoon-like state, enabling him to cast his domain with his hands sealed.
Naoya subsequently adds that the large eye that lies in the core of his domain, Time Cell Moon Palace, is also what causes the sure-hit technique to be activated within the barrier. Daidou and Miyo are apprehended inside the domain, and something that looks like camera film is inserted in their necks. Because nothing seems out of place, they both see the embeds but choose to ignore them.
Attack By Daidou And Miyo
As soon as Daidou and Miyo agree on the ideal time to strike, they both rush to attack Naoya. But the moment they move, wounds appear on their bodies, and their eyes and nostrils begin to bleed. The operation technique of Naoya’s domain is then illustrated in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 198, proving that it is based on Projection Sorcery.
Then Naoya shows that his domain magnifies the impact all the way down to the molecular level, forcing anyone he touches to move exactly like him or temporarily go still. Any movement will disrupt the cellular alignment of their body once it has been exposed to his Cursed Technique within his territory, resulting in serious internal wounds.
Nayoa Wasn’t Able To Sense Maki’s presence
Miyo is the first to succumb to the effects of his cellular structure, breaking down in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 198. He collapses on the ground and declares that it is an excellent domain, to which Naoya smugly nods in agreement.
He then turns his focus to Maki, who he is still unable to sense. Maki is like Toji in that she hides her existence, therefore Naoya initially misses her absence, as he had said earlier during his argument with Noritoshi. But he understands that even if he can’t sense Maki due to her lack of cursed energy, he should at least be aware of her whereabouts within his realm.
Maki Kills Naoya
When Naoya was stabbed by Maki in the chest, he was not immediately killed. Naoya insults and teases her, saying that she would die because she couldn’t kill him in one strike, as he completely twists his head around. Naoya boldly asserts that Maki is unable to move now as she is within his domain and he transforms back into his hideous worm-like form as a result of the harm done to his soul. But due to Maki’s lack of cursed energy, the domain’s sure-hit method does not harm him and instead completely slices through him to kill him and destroy his domain.
Then Daidou and Miyo say they barely made it out alive in the final lines of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 198, while Maki leaves carrying her sword and a shattered piece of the domain’s barrier. The chapter text announces the return of a demonic opponent who is equal to Toji.
The Plot Of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 198
Like Toji, Maki lacks the cursed energy, which causes barrier techniques to treat her similarly to how they would treat inanimate objects like buildings, according to Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 198. No barriers can stop her without her permission, the chapter continues, and it makes reference to Megumi’s domain from Tokyo No. 1 Colony in order to make the point that only an external barrier can keep her trapped inside a domain.
Afterward, Maki and Mai are seen holding hands on a seashore in Chapter 198. The sword is seen to be imbued with Mai’s spirit when Mai tells her sister that she let Daidou “handle her” in order to show her what it is capable of.
