The show was created, written, and executive produced by Jeff Hodsden (“Bunk’d”) and Tim Pollock (“Bunk’d”). ‘Life By Ella’ is a 10-episode long series and the titles of the episodes and synopsis were revealed once the episodes started to air on a weekly basis.
The story follows a 13-year-old girl named Ella, a cancer survivor who returns to school with a brand new perspective and with a “seize the day” attitude. She has a best buddy, with whom she feels the strongest and ready to take over the world she was scared of before. She is determined to not get affected by the “fake-ness” of social media.

Our Take On ‘Life By Ella’
It’s clear as day that the show is made to inspire young people. Ella has always been the girl who has played it safe when it comes to, well, almost everything. But after learning about her cancer, she is learning to embrace every moment of her life with all of its randomness and chaos.
The series needs to get its credit where credit is due. The story is not preachy in any sense and the humor is character driven and actually funny for the most part. But sure, there is a lot of drama. Starting with Ella of course, she is not only fighting a deadly illness but also her past self. She’s trying to come out of her shell and embrace life as it is, at the age of 13!
The dramas surrounding Ella’s close pals are also shown. Kai expresses a little worry that their friendship might dwindle as Ella transitions more into being in school and away from the hospital environment.
Carl needs to learn how to let go so that Ella can get back to living her life, but Ella seems to comfort him that because he was there for her, “our friendship is as real as it gets.” Joanne not only pretends to be busy at work but also doesn’t seem to have told anyone there about Ella’s health issues in order to avoid having to deal with some of the most challenging aspects of Ella’s journey.
