Love is Blind: After the Altar Season 2 Release Date, Plot, Cast, Storyline, And More

If you’re a fan of “The Bachelor” or “The Marriage at First Sight,” then I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of this one too. A dating reality television series, Love is Blind: After the Altar portrays a new season but also revisits the participants from the previous one to show how they are doing with their lives.

A three-week event, where people of various but close ages from the same metropolitan area are welcomed to this show as contestants. Read on to know more about Love is Blind: After the Altar Season 2.

Love is Blind: After the Altar Season 2 Storyline

15 men and 15 women of similar ages who want to find love are invited to the show. The people are from various backgrounds and jobs, but their location happens to be the same city, so as to give a common topic to talk about. Then for the next 10 days, the contestants date each other in “pods”, a separate chamber where people can talk and get acquainted with each other, but the twist is that they can only listen to each other’s voices and can’t see the person they’re talking to.

This whole process is done in a speed dating format so that each person gets a chance to talk to all 15 contestants of the opposite sex. Later on, though, they can choose to be paired with someone for longer times. If the couples feel comfortable enough, they can extend marriage proposals to their partners. Note that the whole process till now is being done through the voices only. After the marriage proposal is accepted, then only the couple is allowed to meet each other face-to-face.

“Everyone wants to be loved for who they are, not for their looks, their race, their background, or their income,” according to the words of Vanessa Lachey “Psychologists believe that emotional connection is the key to long-term marital success, not physical attraction,” said her husband and co-host, Nick.

After the engagement, a lot of wedding preparations happen and the cast is allowed to go shopping and prepare. Even their real-life family members are invited to create buzz. Then a wedding happens where the couple decides whether they’ll marry or break off the engagement.

Love is Blind: After the Altar Season 2 Cast

The season 2 cast includes presenters and real-life couples who have been married since 2011, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey. It was a great idea to have a married couple co-host the show as it definitely gets the audience in the mood for a marriage proposal.

After the suspenseful and dramatic Season 2, After the Alter focuses on how contestants are doing. The 2 couples who did say ‘I do’ at the Altar both applied for divorce in August 2022, a year after the show’s main season 2. The other contestants remained in touch and close harmony except for Shake, whose racist views made him a clear unfavourite and thus did not return for this special.

Natalie Lee, Shayne Jansen, Abhishek ‘Shake’ Chatterjee, Deepti Vempati, Salvador Perez, Mallory Zapata, Shaina Hurley, and Kyle Abrams are the other cast members of Love is Blind: After the Altar Season 2.

Love is Blind: After the Altar Season 2 Plot

This season was set in Chicago, Illinois and our 15 couples, out of which none of them are together now, are still somewhat in touch except for those who have moved on to new partners.

Iyanna McNeely, 27, a Program Coordinator got married (and soon to be divorced) to Jarrette Jones, 32, who’s a Project Manager. They were a great couple, loved by many fans but they have divorced because their opinions do not match. The differences were such that Iyanna had moved out of his place. The reason for their split had been Jarrette’s drinking habits and that he stays out way too late. Although they are still in love, neither of them shied away from being open and real about their problems, letting people relate and feel with them.

Danielle Ruhl, 29, Associate Director of Marketing, has tied the knot with Nick Thompson, 36, VP of Product Marketing. They still love their costume parties but have also planned to divorce each other. Their love was overshadowed by the plenty of differences they had off-camera.

The 3 episode special, showed how the relationships have turned out. Natalie, who’s good friends with most of the cast, got back with Shayne after the show, where she left him on the altar. But they broke it off again, as Natalie found him cheating on her with Shaina, one of the other cast who paired with him.

The shocking allegation and their DMs created some awkwardness. Natalie was very vocal about it all, Shaina denied them but Shayne remained tight-lipped about it and said he is healing and working out as of now. Shaina, who wasn’t much interested in her partner Kyle, is engaged to a Christian guy she met after the show.

The really good thing about the show was the close friendship and the potential for something more between Kyle and Deepti. Both have confirmed their feelings but also said they are scared to work on it, so as to not ruin their friendship.
