Obi-Wan Kenobi Release Date, Cast, Trailer and More

Hello Star War Universe fans out there, today in this we are discussing an upcoming action-adventure Sci-Fi miniseries directed by Deborah Chow, featuring Star Wars character Obi-Wan Kenobi, and was also named Obi-Wan Kenobi. Joby Harold was the showrunner for this miniseries.

Initially, Obi-Wan Kenobi season 1 was going to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 25 May 2022 but in order to make releasing date coincide with the Star Wars celebration, it got postponed to 27 May 2022, The six-part miniseries will follow the Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi after his exile at the end of Revenge of the Sith. When he chose to hide in the desert of Tatooine to protect newborn Luke and prevent his father Anakin from discovering his existence.

In February 2013, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the creation of numerous Star Wars standalone spin-off films.   In August 2016, The Hollywood Reporter conducted a vote to determine which Star Wars character deserved a spin-off film, and Obi-Wan Kenobi came out on top. Obi-Wan Kenobiw will follow the events of 2005 movie the Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

The Release Dates for Obi-Wan Kenobi season 1 are:

  • The first episode is going to be released on 27 May 2022.
  • The second episode is going to be released on 27 May 2022.
  • The third episode is going to be released on 1 June 2022.
  • The fourth episode is going to be released on 1 June 2022.
  • The fifth episode is going to be released on 8 June 2022.
  • The sixth episode is going to be released on 8 June 2022.

The title of these episodes is not yet officially announced by Disney, we have to wait till their release. we have also gathered information regarding Obi-Wan Kenobi cast and plot, so make sure you read this post the end, in order to now skip any updates.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Releasing Date

Disney is set to released first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi on 27 May 2022, its releasing date was postponed from 25 May 2022 Wednesday to 27 May 2022 Friday, inorder to make it coincide with Star Wars celebration, and the reamiang 4 episodes will be released as two episodes weeky.

And Disney has experimented releasing their original content with Loki, as they shifted its releasing date from Friday to Wednesday, but now they are back releasing their original content on Friday itself.

This show was announced by Disney 3 years ago in year 2019, and its filming began in spring 2021, since then Star Wars Universe Fans are eagerly waiting for its release, now we all know fans are really excited as show is going to be release this month on 27 May 2022.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Expected Plot

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set in a time period 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and nine years before A New Hope, where we first met Obi-Wan Kenobi as an older man (played by Alec Guinness), sort of like how The Mandalorian is set a few years after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is the central character of this show, he is now a Jedi master in exile on Tatooine, where he keeps an eye on young Luke Skywalker and mourns the loss of his failed apprentice who turned to the Dark Side. The Empire, on the other hand, appears to have an army of Jedi hunters scouring the galaxy for survivors of Order 66, and they’re bound to run into Obi-Wan at some point. The Show also revolve on doings of Obi-Wan Kenobi to hide from The Empire for escaping Order 66 and to survive in desert.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Cast

Disney has announced Ewan McGregor as central character of Obi-Wan Kenobi, with the announcement of series Obi-Wan Kenobi back in 2019, anf latter in 2020 Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy surprised and thrilled everyone by announcing that Hayden Christensen would reprise his role as Darth Vader in the show. Fans are eagerly waiting for full reveal of Cast members of Obi-Wan Kenobi, thankfully Disney has recently announced whole cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi includes:

  • Ewan McGregor played the central character of Obi-Wan Kenobi, A Jedi Master who escaped Order 66 and now lives in exile on planet Tatooine, looking after young Luke Skywalker. Ewan McGregor was really excited to play this role, he rewatched the Skywalker Saga films to prepare for the role, while also reading science fiction novels.
  • Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker also known as Darth Vader sometimes, he was the father of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Obi-Wan’s former Jedi Padawan and close friend who fell to the dark side and became a Sith Lord. Hayden previously played role in 2005, so he also rewatched the Skywalker Saga, and many other Sci-Fi series to prepare for his role.
  • Joel Edgerton played the role of Owen Lars, he was a moisture farmer on Tatooine, Anakin Skywalker’s step-brother, and Luke’s step-uncle.
  • Bonnie Piesse played as  Beru Whitesun Lars, she was Owen Lars’ wife and Luke’s step Aunt.
  • Moses Ingram played the role of Reva also known as the Third Sister, she was a ruthless, ambitious woman shares a common goal with the Grand Inquisitor and Darth Vader. She recently became famous for her role of Jolene in The Queen’s Gambit in year 2020.
  • Indira Varma as an Imperial officer.
  • Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor, who is the highest-ranking Inquisitor ih the whole Galactic Empire.
  • Sung Kang played the role of the Fifth Brother, An Inquisitor.

and other supporting cast members include  Benny Safdie,  Kumail Nanjiani,  Rory Ross,  Maya Erskine and Flea, but here roles are not revealed by Disney yet. 

Obi-Wan Kenobi Official Trailer

Disney + Hotstar has released an official trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi on 4th May 2022, which contains much more information than the first teaser trailer released in March 2022. Fans after watching this trailer, are now expecting Obi-Wan Kenobi show, will deliver them action-packed look at the events directly after the fall of the Republic.

Trailer also contained some glimpes of Darth Vader’s iconic wheeze and shows Obi-Wan Kenobi is now a Jedi master in exile on Tatooine, where he keeps an eye on young Luke Skywalker.

Where to Watch Obi-Wan Kenobi

First 2 episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi season 1 are going to be released on Disney Plus Hotstar for online streaming on 27 May 2022, and rest of the episodes will be available on same OTT platform once they are released.
