Unfortunately for dedicated fans, Party of Five’s latest season has officially been canceled by Freeform, it was one of the series with the lowest viewership among Disney series this summer, leading to cancellation for the lack of popularity and commercial success, however despite not reaching many people, the story has made its way into the heart of fans. This is also a huge gap as compared to the cultural influence and commercial success of the original series which ran for 142 episodes and 6 seasons.

The first thing we get to see is Emilio’s transformation from a selfish, reckless, and irresponsible teenager who wants to be a musician; to someone dedicated to his family and trying to support his siblings through a tough time. It is easy to empathize with all the characters going through these changes and losses as we can visualize their situations easily. Many times circumstances can force people to change their lifestyles, and while some may judge this change to be a positive one, it is also undeniably sad. Emilio then faces problems with Caster, who is trying to take over the business for his late father but is offended by Emilio’s insistence and eventually leaves it to him.

He has problems with understanding his father’s business, dealing with competitors, and catering to customer expectations and struggles to overcome these issues. He also comes to understand he cannot go through these struggles alone and seeks the support of his siblings. Val goes through a period of emotional instability and often wishes for her parents to come back. She eventually also begins to explore more possibilities. Episode 9 shocks the audience as the family meets with each other. Lucia eventually grows and gets beyond her comfort zone throughout this season. Many minor characters have important roles to play in this season as well, making it novel and captivating through their presence.

Emilio: Because I don’t want everything I have at this moment to be everything I have.
Vanessa: And I’m the only thing that’s optional?
Emilio: Can we just go back to the way things were?
Vanessa: I don’t think I will like myself very much if I just agree to that.
