Saturday Night Live Season 48, (SNL) is a late-night live American television show. The show was also known as NBC’s Saturday Night (1975-1977) and Saturday Night Live ’80 (1980). It is a stand-up comedy, with a mixture of satire, sketch comedy, and full of a variety shows. The show’s creator was Lorne Michaels and was developed by Dick Ebersol. The opening of the show was hosted by George Carlin on October 1, 1975, on NBC’s Saturday Night.
In 1974, NBC president Herbert Schlosser approached his vice president of late-night programming, Dick Ebersol, and after that, he asked him to create a show to fill the Saturday night time slot. At his suggestion Barry Diller, Schlosser, and Eberson all together then approached Lorne Michaels. Over the next three weeks, Ebersol and Michaels developed the latter’s idea for a variety show which would be featuring high-concept comedy sketches, political satire, and music performances that would attract 18- to 34-year-old viewers.

After the second tier, the host introduces the musical guest, who will be performing a song, usually one that they just released. Sometimes both the musical guest and the host are the same then no announcement or introduction is required.
