Tearmoon Empire Anime Storyline

It’s the tale of the Tearmoon Empire, and how the empire fell to bits, due to the irresponsible royalty at the head. Princess of the Tearmoon Empire, Mia is about to face execution, as the story begins.

Her hands are tied and she’s kneeling on the ground, as the charges against her are announced. Next to her is a guillotine machine, in a small clearing around which lots of crowds, ministers, administration and soldiers are gathered. We read through the Princess’ POV, about how she’s dreading it and tries to think of all things that led to this.

Her beheading by the guillotine is announced due to financial poverty, grim condition and unrest in the empire. Neighboring states are planning to attack them, their military strength is poor, they have no money or food, all of these blames lie on Mia Sama. Her bad decisions and horrible policies, like “If there’s no meat, people can eat meat, right?” The reckless spending and the amount of money being wasted on food for the royal family, led to the economic disaster for the state.

On top of that, Mia was very arrogant, bratty and brash about everything. She was haughty and selfish, she was rude to everyone in the palace and never thought about others. In what were her last moments, Mia regretted everything that led to this and prayed desperately that if she had a second chance, she would change the way things were, and the state of the empire as well.

Tearmoon Empire Manga

Tearmoon Empire is a light novel (LN) series that originated in Japan. The writer of the manga is Nozomu Mochitsuki and the series was published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in August 2018. This novel posting website is a self publishing website for novels.

Written by Nozomu Mochitsuki. The series began publication on the novel posting website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in August 2018; it was later acquired by TO Books, who are publishing the series in print with illustrations by Gilse.

The manga adaptation of the LN series was written by the original writer Nozomu Mochitsuki. The illustrations are done by Mizu Morino. The manga was published by TO Books in its magazine Comic Corona and in English, it is done by J-Novel Club, a North America website. The targeted audience for the manga were young adult females and teen girls, so it fell in Shōjo. The manga has been published since August 12, 2019, a year after its novel was released. It is still ongoing and 5 volumes of the manga have been released.

Tearmoon Empire Anime Plot

The anime will be directed by Yūshi Ibe, written by Deko Akao and Music for the anime is composed by Kōji Fujimoto. It will see 20 year old Princess Mia Luna Tearmoon of the Tearmoon empire about to be beheaded by a guillotine, just as she was about to die. She woke up as her 12 year old, very shocked. She thought it was a dream but then sees her diary that she writes everyday.

In the diary, she reads that everything that happened was true and also that somehow when the blade was about to chop off her head, she travelled back in time to her 10s with her memories intact and vague.

She decides to change things at Empire as she has 8 years at hand, and to stop the Empire from getting ruined to prevent her own future execution. She takes help from the only two people who stood by her when she was about to be executed. A young maid, Anne, who came to visit her everyday, combed her hair, bought her food and read out stories to her. Back in prison, Mia couldn’t help or do anything for Anne to show her gratitude.

So when she’s 12, usually she was very mean and rude, as well as inconsiderate of all her subordinates. But she recognizes Anne and to pay her gratitude to her, she makes Anne her personal maid. Anne is delighted beyond words and promises to be very loyal to her. The other person who stood by her, was someone her diary referred to as “Worthless Four-Eyes.” But she also remembered that he argued against her execution as well.

He used to be rude and offensive while reciting out the many faults of princess and how her luxurious lifestyle is draining the treasury of empire. So she was always writing bad things about him, but also wrote his lectures word for word in her anger. She made him transfer to New Moon City, a slum like area where even common people never wants to go.

But this time, she sought him and stopped a higher official from transferring Ludwig Hewitt to slums, and asked his opinion on how to improve the economic condition of Tearmoon Empire.

Initially in disregard of Princess’ old nature of being mean and dumb, Ludwig looks down on her but Mia remembered his words from diary about why financial condition of empire is not good, which impressed Ludwig and he thinks she’s wise as a priestess and agrees to serve her with his all.

Thus, armed with her two loyal friends, Mia sets about setting things right in palace.
