The Final Table Season 2 is going to be the second sequel of The Final Table which is a foody, critical show.
Food writer and critic Andrew Knowlton started an American cooking competition and reality television series titled “The Final Table”. It went on air for the first time back in 2018 and the first episode of the show premiered on Netflix on November 20, 2018. The filming of this reality cooking show is done in California and Los Angeles. The American cook show is directed by Russell Norman and produced by Adam Cooper.
Twelve international teams of two professional chefs compete against each other for making delicious recipes and create elevated dishes based on the country chosen for each episode. This is one of the things that differentiates The Final Table from any other cook show. Two culturally significant citizens representing the country that has been chosen for the particular episode along with a good critic make up the panel for round one of the competition.
The Final Plate Challenge is the second round of each episode. In this round, the chef picks an ingredient that represents the culture of cooking of that particular country, and each team’s made dish is judged and the chosen ingredient must be highlighted in the dish. Two or three teams get eliminated in this round.
The renowned chef judges from all the episodes come together as the judging panel for the final episode of The Final Table. In this final episode, all the judged chefs bring along their signature dish which they had created for the world and changed the food world. In this final episode, the two chef teams that had been competing against everybody else till now, break up. They now have to compete against each other as individuals. The challenge for the four finalists now is to make a dish that defines them as a chef.
They have to prepare a signature dish defining them and a dish that will “cause ripples around the culinary world”. While the format of the show is different from that of MasterChef, a positive review received about The Final Table by David Sexton who wrote it in the Evening Standard was that the fans of MasterChef will “love” the show. On a contrary, Lucy Mangan in an interview for The Guardian described the show “The Final Table” as “bombastic and barely watchable”, and rated the show two stars out of five.
Hence it is safe to conclude that this show has received mixed reactions, both positive and negative from its viewers. This show has also received enough criticism for not having any contestants from an African country.
The Final Table Season 2 Release Date
Unlike many other cooking shows like MasterChef, the incredible direction and many twists and challenges made the show, The Final Table different from all other cooking shows. This gives the show the potential to continue for many years with a different season released every year. However, there has been no news about the premiere of the second season of The Final Table yet. There was news about the premiere of the second season back in November 2020 but it must have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic then. Fans and cook show lovers are anticipating the announcement of the premiere of the second season of The Final Table soon.
The Final Table Season 1 Winner
Chef Timothy Hollingsworth, a citizen of the United States of America was the winner of The Final Table season 1. He was paired along with Darren MacLean of Canada. He had something to say about the changes he feels should be made in the upcoming seasons of the show in an interview. He said, “I think it would make it more challenging to pick a wider mix of countries. I think it would be good to let chefs get creative with dishes instead of having them recreate something specific. Or at least specify whether chefs should get creative, or stick to the exact traditional recipe of dishes, which I don’t think is as interesting.”
