The Godfather is a crime film. It was a trilogy of films directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The movie was inspired by the novel of the same title written by Mario Puzo. The first movie was released in 1972, followed by the second movie in 1974 and the third movie was released in 1990. The first two movies are considered the greatest movies of all time. Together the three movies won 9 Academy Awards becoming a huge success worldwide.
The Godfather Part IV Storyline
The movies focus on the life of Don Vito Corleone who lives in New York City. After rejecting an offer by a drug baron, the Corleones face countless attacks and fight back by planning, plotting, and killing their enemies back. After Vito dies, his son Michael takes over his position as a don and his business. The movies follow how Michael spent his life taking his father’s established business to greater heights. While we also get to see how Vito himself established himself in New York City. Then the movie progresses to Michael in his 60s and what happens before he too, ultimately dies.
The Godfather Part IV might have begun with a new story of a new don but now we will never know.

The Godfather Part IV Plot
The Godfather is set in 1945, in New York City. It begins with Vito Corleone, a don listening to the requests during his daughter’s wedding. His daughter Connie is marrying Carlo. Michael is Vito’s youngest son who introduces his girlfriend Kay at the reception. Vito has a godson, Johnny Fontane. Vito’s oldest son is Sonny.
During Christmas, Sollozzo, a drug baron requests Vito to invest in his business and lend him protection from the law which Vito declines. This leads to a match of several fights between both parties. Lives are lost and after countless deaths, the movie ends with Michael being called “Don Corleone”.
The next film, The Godfather Part II has two narratives. The first is set in 1958 and follows the journey of Michael who is now the new Don. He is protecting his family business and his own life. While the second narrative tells the journey of his father, Vito, whose story begins from his Sicilian childhood to the founding of his business in NYC.
In the third film, Michael is approaching his 60s. He divorced his wife, Kay. Kay now lives with their two kids Anthony and Mary. Michael spends his money by donating to several charitable causes on the account of ordering his brother’s murder. Vincent Mancini, the illegitimate son of Michael’s other dead brother arrives. Vincent has ulterior motives that lead to more deaths. The movie ends with an elderly Michael slumping over in his chair and then falling lifelessly to the ground.
The Godfather Part IV Release Date
The Godfather was released on 15th March 1972. The Godfather Part II was released on 20th December 1974. The Godfather Part III was released on 25th December 1990. The fourth movie got canceled after Puzo’s death on 2nd July 1999. It might have gotten released somewhere around 2000 if they had finished the shooting. The Godfather Part IV got canceled so it’s pointless to figure out if we might get to see or what we might get to see in the fourth installment.
The Godfather Part IV Previous Movies Recap
The Godfather Part III revolves around Michael who is about to be 60. He got married to Kay but they are divorced now. Kay lives with their kids Anthony and Mary. Michael spends his money donating to charitable causes after he ordered someone to murder his own brother. Soon, Vincent Mancini, who is the illegitimate son of Michael’s other dead brother arrives setting a series of events in place. Vincent has a fiery temper but is very loyal which makes Michael take him into his family business. Vincent tries to settle a dispute with Joey Zasa, his rival.
A betrayal leads to an attack. During the open fire outside the conference room, Michael, Vincent, and Michael’s bodyguard survive. Vincent kills Zasa, and he also begins a relationship with Mary. But Michael orders Vincent to end his relationship since it puts Mary’s life in danger.
They all leave for Sicily for Anthony’s debut performance. At the opera house, Vincent’s men look for Mosca but he overcomes them all. As they are leaving, Mosca shoots Mary and Michael. Vincent there shoots Mosca killing him instantly. The movie ends with an elderly Michael collapsing on the ground.
