The Last Narc Season 2 is a docuseries released by Amazon in July 2020. It was produced by Eli Holzmann and Aaron Saidman. The director of the docuseries, Tiller Russell researched Camarena’s murder for 14 years before shooting the whole docuseries for 2 years. The docuseries had four episodes, and the duration of each was one hour.
The first season of The Last Narc received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The case of Camarena’s murder is regarded as the most notorious and brutal murder case in the entire history of DEA. Hence, fans want to know about the renewal of the series for a second season. There hasn’t been any official announcement related to it but here’s what we know so far!
The Last Narc Season 2 Storyline
The docuseries is about the 1985 death of the U.S. DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. In the series, DEA agents and witnesses to Camarena’s death are interviewed. The witnesses state that Camarena was murdered by Mexican drug lords and the CIA.
The second season of the docuseries hasn’t been released but it’s believed that the first season answered all the questions related to the case. There might be a possibility that the new season will focus on a different case.

The Last Narc Season 2 Plot
The docuseries, The Last Narc shows the story of DEA agent Kiki Camarena who died at the hands of drug lords and the CIA. The witnesses and several DEA agents are interviewed in the docuseries. The agent, Hector Berrellez informs that Felix Ismael Rodriguez, a CIA agent helped torture Camarena to learn what he knew about US connections to Mexican cartels. Berrellez states that Camarena was killed because he was going to disclose these connections.
Enrique “Kiki” Camarena was brutally kidnapped and murdered in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1985. Several political angles and conspiracy theories are discussed in the series as we learn about Camarena’s death.
There are numerous testimonies of former DEA Hector Berrellez who led the investigation of Camarena’s murder in Operation Leyenda. It also includes Phil Jordan, former DEA Intelligence Director, and DEA resident Agent Mike Holm who was in charge in Guadalajara when Camarena got kidnapped. Furthermore, testimonies of Manny Medrano, former assistant US Attorney and Lead prosecutor in the Camarena case were also included.
Camarena owed the cartels a huge amount of money when his investigations led the Mexican army to burn down Rancho Bufalo, which is said to be a major marijuana plantation. He also gained a lot of enemies when he discovered that the CIA was working with the cartels to fund anti-communist Contras in Nicaragua.
Several employees and enforcers of the cartels who helped capture and torture Camarena in the first place later became witnesses for the DEA.
The docuseries has shot footage in the home where Camarena was tortured and murdered which has now been turned into an elementary school. He was tortured for over 30 hours during which his ribs were broken, his skull was crushed and some believe even a hole was drilled into his head. A doctor was allowed to inject him with amphetamines which kept Camarena alive during the torture.
Camarena’s wife, Geneva ‘Mika’ Camarena, said that neither the US nor the Mexican government revealed to her the truth about her husband’s death.
CIA has plainly refused to have any involvement in his death.
The Last Narc Season 2 Release Date
At the beginning of the docuseries, it was labeled as a miniseries, which means it won’t be returning with a new season.
On 21st December 2020, James Kuykendall, former chief of the DEA field office in Mexico sued Amazon and the makers of The Last Narc for false claims. He sued them for “defamation”.
The series was supposed to premiere on 15th May but was delayed due to some issues.
Since the first season covered the case properly, answering all the questions, it’s unlikely there will be a second season. However, it’s speculated that there might be a new season but with a new case.
The Last Narc Season 2 Previous Season Recap
The docuseries is about Camarena, an undercover agent who told the Mexican authorities about a marijuana plantation in Allende. It led the police to raid the plantation and destroy it. But unfortunately, because of the loss of the plantation, Camarena was kidnapped by Rafael Caro Quintero. Rafael was the owner of the aforementioned plantation and Drug Mafia.
Camarena was abducted and then tortured by the people of the gang for more than 30 hours until his body was dumped in Michoacán to rot.
