The Power is a British series based upon a novel titled The Power written by Naomi Alderman, she is a British novelist and author highly known for her interest in science fiction novels. The Power as well as a fictional novel that follows a storyline of supernatural powers within young women.

The world was as normal as ever until suddenly all the teenage girls had the power of causing the death of a person through electric shock. Alderman’s novel won an award Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, the novel focuses on women’s sex dominance over the world.

The Power Cast

The main cast of the show includes Auli’i Cravalho, she is an American actress popularly known for her works in Rising by NBC, All Together Now by Netflix, and recently starred in the series Crush. She is a singer as well, she has previously worked as a voice actor, she plays the role of Jos Cleary Lopez in the show. Leslie Mann, is an American actress widely popular for her roles in Big Daddy, 17 again, This is 40, The cable guy, and George of the jungle, she plays the role of Margot Cleary Lopez in the show.

Ria Zmitrowicz is an American actress widely popular for her roles in Three Girls and On The Edge, she plays the role of Roxy Monke in the show. Toheeb Jimoh is an English actor best known for his roles in Ted Lasso as Sam Obisanya as well as in the movie Anthony as Anthony Walker, he plays the role of Tunde in the show. Edwina Findley is an American actress best known for her work in the series If Loving you is wrong, she plays the role of Helen in the show.

The Power Storyline

The Power Storyline

Power symbolizes women’s empowerment by giving the women of the world a supernatural power particularly. The series begins with young teenage girls acquiring the power of immense strength and the power of electrifying humans. This power soon began developing in other older women as well. The series is based on the novel of the same title and it was criticized to imply gender superiority but the author clearly denied it. The story is not about women’s superiority rather it focuses on the empowerment of women in those countries wherein women are still unable to raise their voices for their rights.

The series will show women from all over the world with the powers and how they utilize it. As a great power comes there are always people who utilize it in a good manner as well as people who utilize it in a bad manner, the show will portray the evil and good consequences of the supernatural powers. The story revolves around Roxy, Allie, Margot, and Tunde.

Roxy is from London, she has the trauma of her mother being murdered right in front of her eyes and her father is a crime boss. Roxys’ character portrays a strong masculine woman who uses her power to avenge her mother’s death.

Allie is from the southern US, she lived as a foster child but was constantly abused by her foster father. In order to save herself from any future torture, she used her powers to kill her father and joins the new matriarchal center with a new identity.

Margot is from America, she is the mayor of America and uses her powers in a political stance, and makes great contributions to the white house. Tunde is a young man working as a journalist, he is shown being a victim of electric shock while he was having a sexual time with his girlfriend. In the entire series, he is protected by the women around him among the protests of the men’s rights movement.

The main plot begins with a group of rogue women attacking and sexually assaulting men, these women have an evil motive and consider themselves as the superior gender. The show portrays how women in the society were treated and are still treated in the view of men and how all genders must be treated equally in the message in the end.

The Power release date

As of now, there is no fixed releasing date announced by the production companies but it has been reported to release by 2022.

The Power Creators

The series has been created by Courtney Kemp Agboh, she is an American producer as well as a writer highly popular for her works in Beauty & the Beast and The Good Wife. She was previously nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards for the Outstanding Drama Series and Writers Guild of America Award for Best Drama Series and the novelist Naomi Alderman. The producer of the series is Tim Bricknell, he is also an assistant director best known for his works in Cold Mountain and The Two Faces.

The executive producers include Naomi De Pear working with Sister Production, best known for her works in The Baby and The Golden Compass: Additional Crew, and Reed Morano, who was the first woman to receive an Emmy award as well as the Director’s Guild Award, Jane Featherstone, she is the founder of Sister Production and previously worked with Kudos, Shine UK, Endemol Shine Group and Claire Wilson, she is an author to children and adult YA along with Naomi Alderman. The production company involved in the series in Sister.
