The Resident is based on the novel Unaccountable by Marty Makary. Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore and Roshan Sethi together created The Resident. Initially, it was expected to be a single-season drama but considering the fame, the makers continued it for five seasons. The Resident Season 6 was recently announced by the makers which excited the fans.

Emily VanCamp as Nicolette ‘Nic’ Nevin. She was a nurse practitioner at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. She and Conrad were very close to each other. Both of them married later in the series and even had a daughter. However, Nicolette suffered a tragic death due to a traumatic brain injury in a car crash in The Resident Season 5.
Manish Dayal as Devon Pravesh. Devon was a second-year resident intern at the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. His character was however depicted complicatedly throughout all the seasons of this American Drama.
Shaunette Renée Wilson as Mina Okafo. She was a surgical resident at the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. She was an intelligent and bright individual. Others’ opinions didn’t matter to her. Her visa expired in the latter of the series and she was forced to transit back to her native country.
Bruce Greenwood as Randolph Bell. Randolph was the chief of surgery at the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. He was later appointed as the CEO of the hospital. Unfortunately, he was demoted from both positions in the further seasons and he started his own talk show.
Moran Atias as Renata Morali. Renata initially worked at a different hospital but was fired from there. She later worked in the publicity department of The Chastain Memorial Hospital.
Merrin Dungey as Claire Thorpe. Claire was the former CEO of Chastain Hospital. She was framed for corruption by some of the staff of the hospital and was fired later in the series.
Melina Kanakaredes as Lane Hunter. She also used to work at The Chastain Memorial Hospital. Despite her job, she even owned many medical clinics in the town. She used to provide unnecessary therapies to her patients to raise high premiums. Due to this, her excess therapy even led to the death of a patient which she framed on Nic.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner as August Jeremiah “AJ/The Raptor” Austin. She was a cardiothoracic surgeon who joined the Chastain Memorial Hospital on a special request.
Glenn Morshower as Marshall Winthrop. He was Conrad’s father and earlier used to be a member of the chairman department of The Chastain Memorial Hospital.
Jane Leeves as Kitt Voss. She was the orthopaedic surgeon in the hospital. She was promoted to higher ranks in the Chastain Memorial Hospital.
Jessica Lucas as Billie Sutton. Billie was a neurosurgery resident at the Chastain Memorial Hospital. She was a close friend of Nic.
Anuja Joshi as Leela Devi. Leela was a new surgical intern at the Chastain Memorial Hospital. She was seen struggling with her intern life in the hospital. Devon helped her cope with the challenges she faced in the hospital.
