Thirty Nine is an ongoing drama on JTBC and Netflix. Thirty-Nine is directed by Kim Sang Ho who has dramas such as Age of Youth 2 and Ping Pong Ball. The script was written by Yoo Young Ah who wrote Encounter and My Annoying Brother.
The show is about a chaotic best friend trio starring Son Ye-jin as Cha Mi-jo (famous actress from crash landing on you), Jeon Mi-do as Jeong Chan-young (from the hospital playlist), and Kim Ji-Hyun as Jang Joo-hee. The show portrays the ups and downs of their life. It was all peaceful until one call changed their life. They discovered that one among them is terminally ill and is probably gonna die.

How Many Episodes Will Thirty-Nine Have?
Thirty-Nine is an emotional South Korean Drama consisting of 12 episodes, two episodes released every week. It is officially released by JTBC and is available on Netflix. Thirty Nine takes over JTBC’s Wednesday & Thursday 22:30 time slot previously occupied by “Artificial City”. Taking that into account, 7 more episodes will be released. We see Chan-young creating a bucket list while Mi-jo comforts Seon-u, who blames himself for his sister’s sorrows. Nevertheless, Joo-hee builds a great bond with Hyun-Joon.

Thirty Nine Synopsis
Thirty-nine however revolves around the three best friends Cha Mi-jo, Chan-young, and Joo-hee. The story goes forth and back from their thirties to their high school days. They were first introduced to each other during high school.
Cha mi-jo is a dermatological doctor at the clinic in Gangnam. She is one of the bold characters having a great personality blend of a kind and a cold person. She has dreams to accomplish before she turns 40. She often visits an orphanage with her friends as it was her old home.
At one of the visits to the orphanage, she encounters Kim Seon-woo (Yeon Woo-jin). She likes his kind and caring nature and a love spark begins. Chan-young was an aspiring actor but could not accomplish her dreams and now gives acting classes. Chan-young has a playful personality.
Chan-young falls in love with Kim Jin-Seok (Lee Moo-Saeng) who was introduced to her at a restaurant as Mi-jo’s senior.Jin-seok is a CEO for a big agency. Now she has a complicated relationship with Jin-Seok as he is married to another woman and has a kid.
Joo-hee works as a manager at a department store. She has a shy personality and could not engage herself in any love interests but is always waiting for one. She meets Park Hyun-Joon (Lee Tae-hwan) when she was drunk at the restaurant. She has a few embarrassing moments with him but eventually builds a love interest.
The story shows the life of the three friends who have many problems to face yet stick by each other and support one another.
Thirty Nine Episode 4 Spoiler and Ending Explained
Mi-jo decides to spend a year in the USA before she turns 40. Before she leaves, she wanted to get a medical check-up from both her friends. Her life was all well-planned until she got a call from the hospital stating Chan-young has 4th stage pancreatic cancer and is probably leaving the last few months of her life. Mi-jo gets all upset and mad beginning to accuse herself of the situation. Sun woo was present all the time, trying his best to comfort her.
Chan young has no clue about it until the end of episode 3. She decided to give up on cigarettes and jin Seok but he tries his best to be by her side.
The image of Jin Seok changes completely in Episode 4 when he reveals that he is gonna get divorced and he is not the biological father of the kid. He states he married her only because she was pregnant.
