This Fool Storyline
The plot of This Fool centers on Julio Lopez, a middle-aged working-class man 30 years old who lives at his home with his mother and grandmother. Julio has been in a tumultuous relationship with his girlfriend since high school. Although she has the right to “borrow” Julio’s car at any time as she sees fit, their on-and-off relationship never seems to end. Julio, a South Central Los Angeles resident who works at the nonprofit organization Hugs, not Thugs to treat gang members, consistently puts off dealing with his difficulties by making a variety of justifications.
Julio runs across his older cousin Luis, who also happens to be an ex-gang member, at Hugs, not Thugs. After serving eight years in prison, Luis recently earned his release and is now living with Julio and his family. Julio tries to improve his neighborhood, deal with his family’s codependency issues, and get by in South Central’s working-class existence.
The second season might include an examination of Julio’s relationship with his girlfriend. Their sporadic relationship might have a significant role in the second season’s plot. Luis and his relationship with Julio will also be covered in This Fool Season 2. For the wrong motives, they could both run into trouble with the gang members.
