Suspense Movies on Netflix are a must to watch. I am a person who loves watching thrillers and suspense series. So if you are one like me and are searching for good suspense series, you are in the right place. Here we are suspecting you the top best suspense series available on Netflix and is a must-watch.
1. Bird Box Top 5 Suspense Movies On Netflix
Bird Box is a suspenseful movie on Netflix. It is simple but effective. Bird Box is a 2018 American post-apocalyptic horror thriller film directed by Susanne Bier and written by Eric Heisserer, based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Josh Malerman. The film received mixed reviews from critics and went on to become the most-watched film on Netflix within 28 days of release.
The film follows the character Malorie Hayes, played by Sandra Bullock, as she tries to protect herself and two children from entities that cause people who look at them to die by suicide. After a mysterious apocalyptic event, human beings can no longer open their eyes outdoors. If they do, they’ll die by suicide. As you can probably imagine, this threat alone is more than enough to dial up the movie’s background tension, while sequences like Sandra Bullock’s character Malorie rowing blindfolded down a river with two small children cranks the stress-o-meter into overdrive.
The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they’ll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them — and complete the trip blindfolded.
2. The Call
The Call is also one of the best suspenseful movies on Netflix I’ve heard and watched to date. It is a South Korean Thriller film that was released in 2020. The film was directed by Lee Chung-Hyun and starred Park Shin-Hye and Jeon Jong-Seo. It is based on the 2011 British and Puerto Rican film The Caller.
The plot of the fil The Call revolves around two women named Seo-yeon and Young-sook who belonged to two different times and met each other through a phone call which interchanges their fates. In 2019, 28-year-old Kim Seo-yeon loses her cellphone while traveling to visit her sick, estranged mother in a rural area. Arriving at her rundown childhood home, she finds a decades-old cordless phone, and through it receives calls from a distressed woman who says she’s being tortured by her mother.
After investigating the house, Seo-Yeon figures out that the woman on the phone, Oh Young-sook, is living in the same house since 1999. The two can communicate across time through the phone, and exchange information about their lives. Young-sook is orphaned and lives with her adoptive mother, who is a shaman, while Seo-Yeon lost her father in a fire that she blames her mother, Eun-ae, for.
3. The Clovehitch Killer
The Clovehitch Killer belongs to the genre of suspenseful movies on Netflix which was directed by Duncan Skiles and was released in 2018. Its an American coming of age Thriller film. It stars Dylan McDermott, Charlie Plummer, Samantha Mathis, and Madisen Beaty. The film was mostly inspired by the story of real life serial killer Dennis Rader aka the BTK Killer. The film is shot in Kentucky.
The Clovehitch Killer plot follows a seemingly perfect family torn apart when their teenage son, Tyler, finds a link between his dad and the infamous Clovehitch Killer — a man who tortured and murdered 10 women but was never caught. Dylan McDermott is spectacularly creepy as the Scout leader dad in question.
4. Gerald’s Game
Gerald’s Game is a suspense novel by American writer Stephen King and was released in 1992. The book was adapted into a 2017 film directed by Mike Flanagan. The book is dedicated to King’s wife Tabitha and her five sisters. Originally, the book was intended to be a companion piece to King’s novel Dolores Claiborne, with the connecting theme of two women in crisis caught in the path of an eclipse, though this aspect was greatly reduced by the time the books were published.
Gerald’s Game Plot follows a woman who kills her husband. A woman accidentally kills her husband during foreplay. They had driven out to a remote area in an attempt to reignite their flailing relationship. Handcuffed to the bed, she soon becomes delirious. She subsequently realized that she is trapped with little hope of rescue and she begins to let the voices inside her head take over. There is a real possibility that Jessie will die if she cannot escape. The vast majority of the action plays out in her mind and memories. Carla Gugino puts in a brilliant lead performance as Jessie.
Hush is another simple, terrifying movie filled with terrifying scenarios. Hush is an American slasher film that was released in 2016 and was directed by Mike Flanagan. The film was premiered at South by Southwest on March 12, 2016, and was released by Netflix on April 8, 2016. The movie is starring Kate Siegel who is also the co-writer of the film along with Mike Flanagan. The film co-stars John Gallagher Jr., Michael Trucco, Samantha Sloyan, and Emilia “Emma” Graves.
Hush follows the plot follows When a murderous masked man starts threatening Maddie, things get seriously scary as she tries to keep her tormenter out of the house — all without being able to hear him. The story is about a deaf writer who retreated into the woods to live a solitary life and must fight for her life in silence when a masked killer appears in her window. It’s a comparable level of sound-based survival suspense you’ve lived through in A Quiet Place. Every movement counts and there’s a perfect “behind you!” moment to make a pantomime proud. The key to Hush, however, is the Siegel-Flanagan team.
